Our Team

Dr. Zurcher, known as "Dr. Z," is a native of the California Bay Area who completed his undergraduate degree at UCLA in 2012. Following this, he dedicated a significant portion of his time to training and practicing in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2017, he earned his MD from the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix and undertook a surgical internship at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix (BUMCP) through the UofA in 2018, where he was honored as Surgical Intern of the Year.

His journey continued with a residency in diagnostic radiology at the Mayo Clinic Arizona from 2018 to 2022. During this time, Dr. Zurcher was elected Chief Resident and demonstrated exceptional leadership and research skills, earning him the Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research award in his final year. Building on this foundation, he completed a two-year fellowship in interventional radiology (IR). The first year took place at the Mayo Clinic Arizona, followed by a final year at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, California. This unique combination of experiences equipped him with a diverse set of procedural skills and extensive knowledge, shaped by exposure to leading experts in the field of IR.

Dr. Zurcher actively engages in research and educational initiatives at both local and national levels. His involvement extends to organizations such as the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). Notably, he has presented at over 25 oral and poster sessions on a national scale, receiving recognition through 8 exhibit awards. His extensive research contributions include 15 peer-reviewed publications, encompassing prospective and retrospective trials, reviews, and case reports. These publications have found homes in prestigious journals like the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, Radiographics, Journal of Vascular Surgery, and the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Z's commitment to advancing the field is evident in his dedication to both clinical practice and the pursuit of knowledge.

Dr. Zurcher joined the VIP team in July 2023 and holds the title of Assistant Clinical Professor with the UofA College of Medicine. When not working, he enjoys hiking and exploring the US National Parks, hitting the gym as a prior competitive powerlifter, and all things sports.
